Manhunt in Elbert Co. for Pueblo deputy accused of menancing, assault

Authorities in Elbert County spent hours searching for a Pueblo Co. Sheriff’s deputy accused of felony menacing and domestic violence.

Randal Scott Alire, 42, was arrested in early October, and never showed up for his court hearing Monday morning.

KRDO Newschannel 13 learned Monday evening that authorities were searching for Alire, and may have recovered a truck he was driving near the El Paso/Elbert county line. Scanner traffic indicated a rifle was found in the vehicle.

A white pickup truck was visible on Elbert County Road 17 about a mile and a half north of the county line. Investigators on scene late Monday said they were still working to confirm who the truck belongs to.

Deputies from El Paso and Elbert counties as well as Kiowa police officers were involved in the investigation. For a few hours, roads were blocked around where the truck was found.

Alire, a detention deputy, is accused of holding his ex-girlfriend hostage with a gun for more than six hours. The woman also told investigators that Alire raped her. Alire bailed out of jail on $75,000 soon after he was arrested.

He had worked at the Pueblo jail since January 2011.
