TX church says ‘vote for the Mormon, not the Muslim!’

A small-town Texas church is causing a big-time controversy by putting up a sign that says: “Vote for the Mormon, not the Muslim! The capitalist, not the communist!”

“I can see why there’s some controversy because some people think that the separation of church and state, maybe they shouldn’t get involved in it,” said a Leakey resident. “But I don’t see no problem with them trying to send a message and wake some people up.”

The pastor of Church in the Valley, the non-denominational church located in Leakey, declined to speak on camera, but he did say that he was very passionate about this year’s election and couldn’t resist.

Other residents of the town were less enthused by the idea, and simply brushed it off as one man’s opinion among many.

“It’s their prerogative. It’s their opinion. It’s their church,” said a local business owner.

Since Church in the Valley is a religious affiliation, it’s considered a non-profit organization.

That means, by law, it can’t endorse any political candidate.
