Police: Springs man runs from officers, tries to hide gun

Colorado Springs police said a man ran from officers and tried to hide a gun while downtown.

It all started just before 2 a.m. Saturday in front of The Ritz bar on S. Tejon Street when police were notified of a fight.

Officers said when they got to the scene, they noticed that David Reese Jr., 43, was armed with a gun.

He ran from the scene and officers chased him for about two blocks. Police said he tried to hide a gun under a mail truck near the post office at the corner of S. Nevada Ave. and E. Pikes Peak Ave.

Reese was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Jail.

Police said he faces charges of disorderly conduct, prohibited use of a weapon, obstructing a police officer, unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
