Families, friends remember accident victims
Two women killed while taking a stroll through their neighborhood were remembered by hundreds Thursday night.
Mourners gathered around the memorial set up for Rose Arcuragi and Rebecca Robinson near the intersection of North Carefree Circle and Picturesque Circle. The two were hit and killed by a car while crossing Carefree early Monday morning.
Robinson was the best friend of Arcuragi’s daughter and the two had lived near each other for years. Both made quite the impression.
“Both of them made everyone feel like they knew them for years,” said Alicia Neffin. “I had just met Rebecca on Friday but I felt like her I knew her for years.”
Robinson was a mother of four. Her memorial is set for this weekend in Fountain according to a close friend.
A memorial for Arcuragi was also Thursday night. Family members said seeing the turnout for the memorial and the candlelight vigil was overwhelming. Arcuragi’s father said he hopes his daughter’s death brings changes to the intersection.
“We are on a crusade for safety,” said Richard Coulier.
