Yoga added to elementary school curriculum

Yoga being added to the curriculum at a California elementary school is having a split reaction.

District officials say the yoga classes are part of a larger initiative to help students be more healthy and active. But some parents have asked their children be taken out of the yoga lessons, claiming the practice is a course in Hinduism.

Parents who oppose the class said they just wish the time, effort and money were invested in other subjects like math and science.

For now district officials are confident the benefits will outweigh the criticism.
