Colorado Springs’ 19th homicide ruled justified

Colorado Springs Police say the man accused in the shooting death of 29-year-old Anthony Ferchaud will not be charged.

33-year-old Colorado Springs resident, Carlos Sesana, was involved in a shooting with Ferchaud on September 1 at a home in the 2200 block of Monterey Road. When officers arrived they found Ferchaud dead at the scene and Sesana with multiple gunshot wounds.

Sesana was transported to Memorial Hospital and is recovering. Evidence shows that Sesana acted in self-defense, defense of others and defense of property, the police department announced on Thursday. He will not be charged in the homicide.

Friends of both men told KRDO NewsChannel 13 in September that they were shocked by what happened. Ferchaud’s friends said he was a former Ft. Carson lab technician, a father to a 7-year-old boy and a car fanatic.

Police said Ferchaud knew Sesana, but did not say what sparked the shooting. Ferchaud’s friends called it a “domestic disturbance,” but wouldn’t elaborate. Sesana’s neighbors said Ferchaud came over with Sesana’s ex, and they believe their neighbor was defending himself.

“Carlos is a great guy,” said his neighbor Glen Casteel. “He’s been a really great neighbor. Never problems at all.”

Casteel said Sesana is also a Ft. Carson soldier and a father.
