Burglar breaks into Pioneers Museum

Colorado Springs police are investigating a break-in at the Pioneers Museum in early Saturday morning.

Police said the museum’s alarm sounded just after 12:30 a.m. Officers arrived to find several broken windows and some of the furniture inside the building damaged. Pioneers Museum Cultural Services Director Matt Mayberry said no artifacts were stolen.

Crews arrived Saturday morning to replace the windows and clean up the damage, according to Mayberry. And the museum opened its normal Saturday hours.

“We are not going to let this get in the way of our serving the public,” Mayberry said.

Police said they do not have any suspects at this time. If you have any information, police would like to speak with you at 719-444-7000.

“Really, we have to rely on the community to help us with any information they may have,” Mayberry said.
