2 Suspects open fire on another vehicle

Two suspects in a sport utility vehicle opened fire on another vehicle tonight on Northern Avenue.

A 21-year-old unidentified victim has been taken to the hospital, but not for bullet wounds, Pueblo police told our partners at the Pueblo Chieftain.

Sgt. Rick Lancendorfer said the victim was not shot but had head and facial wounds that appear to have been sustained in a prior assault.

“This could’ve been from an earlier altercation that continued to this (shooting at) location,” Lancendorfer said.

The shooting happened at 7:39 p.m. at the corner of Northern and Acero avenues.

The victim was driving west on Northern in the outside lane when the suspects pulled up next to him in the inner westbound lane and opened fire, Lancendorfer said.

After the shooting the victim managed to park at the Loaf ‘N Jug located at that intersection.

The victim’s SUV was riddled with bullet holes.

Conflicting reports were given on the suspects’ car – it’s either a black or white SUV.

Police are investigating the shooting.
