1 dead, 3 hurt in early morning house fire

El Paso County deputies said that one person has been found dead after a house fire in Security-Widefield.

Lt. Jeff Kramer of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said investigators presume the body of a 64-year-old woman was found in the home.

She was reported unaccounted for shortly after the fire sparked at 1:14 a.m. in the 400 block of Cielo Vista Street.

Fire crews said the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene.

According to Kramer, six people were at home when the fire sparked.

Three people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning: one woman suffered burns to her feet, a 15-year-old girl suffered burns to her hands, and a 6-year-old boy suffered smoke inhalation.

Investigators said it will be at least a few days before the cause of the fire is determined.
