Texas man arrested in Prowers County for child sex assault

A Texas man wanted on a Prowers County warrant for sexual assault on a child was arrested on Monday.

38-year-old Rogelio Montes of Texline, Texas is being held on a $20,000 bond. Montes is accused of sexually assaulting a child in July 2008. The assault was reported to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office in May 2012.

Investigators discovered Montes had moved to Texas and contacted authorities there. Montes admitted to authorities in Texas that he had sexually assaulted the victim once. A warrant was issued for Montes’ arrest and he was extradited to Prowers County.
