Colorado Springs announces new Deputy City Attorney

The City Attorney’s Office announces the hiring of Tom Florczak as the new Deputy City Attorney.

Florczak will report directly to City Attorney Chris Melcher. Florczak will begin his new role with the City of Colorado Springs City Attorney’s Office on October 15, 2012.

Florcak is currently the Pueblo City Attorney and will leave that position on October 15th.

“This is an exciting career opportunity for me,” he announced recently to City Administration and his fellow department heads.

Florczak, who has provided legal services to Pueblo in one capacity or another for 34 years, further stated, “I have been honored and humbled to serve as Pueblo’s City Attorney for the past three years. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the present City Council, former Council Members, my fellow department heads, and the Law Department Staff. It is also with much sadness that I leave, and I wish the best for Pueblo and its citizens.”

City Attorney Chris Melcher stated, “We are very pleased to have Tom Florczak agree to join our office and help us provide the very best legal services to the City of Colorado Springs. As the Pueblo City Attorney and in private practice before that, Tom brings tremendous legal skills and extraordinary judgment developed over 34 years of practice in municipal law. I am thrilled to have Tom join as the newest member of our team, and am confident he will help us continue to improve the Office of City Attorney and our service to this community.”
