New study shows girls write better than boys

It seems when it comes to writing; it seems girls are better than boys. At least that’s the finding of a new national test.

Girls are better writers than boys!

At least that’s the word from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), better known as the Nation’s Report Card.

The NAEP tested thousands of students in eighth and 12th grades.

Students were asked to perform writing tasks in three areas: to persuade, to explain and to convey an experience.

On average, female students in the eighth grade scored 160.

Their male counterparts scored 140.

In the 12th grade female students averaged 157 compared to the males’ score of 143.

A spokeswoman for the NAEP believes one of the reasons for such big differences in test scores is girls actually like writing better than boys.
