Hell Scream haunted house

The Hell Scream haunted house is getting the finishing touches put on it. It’s in the Centennial Commons off Centennial, near Garden of the Gods road. This is 16 thousand square feet of scare on two levels.

One of the Scare Masters is Jack Schinkel. He was with the Colorado Springs Fire Department for 30 years. Schinkel’s son Jeff’s home was destroyed in the Waldo Canyon wildfire.Jack told me that this haunted houseis just one way to help fire survivors deal with the emotional pain and get their minds off their troubles. Schinkel said, “To be a firefighter you have to have some of the things in your blood. You have to like to help people and anytime we can help people through out the a whole range of things, that is what we live for.” Anyone whose home was damaged or destroyed by the fire will get free admission to Hell Scream.

80 percent of the profits will also be channelled to non-profits. Youth firefighters in Colorado Springs also known as the Explorers will get some of the money. The Wounded Warrior project will get the other half.

We’ve put a link to the Hell Scream haunted house on our front page, links we mentioned.
