1 killed in small plane crash at Pueblo Memorial Airport

The Pueblo Police Department said one person was killed in a crash at the Pueblo Memorial Airport.

The single occupancy, experimental plane crashed at around 8:30 a.m. Sunday, while in the process of landing, Airport Director Mark Lovin said.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer identified the victim as George McHenry, 68, of Pueblo.

Two of the airport’s runways were closed for investigation, but were expected to reopen Sunday evening.

Because of the accident, Mitt Romney’s campaign cancelled his visit, scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Pueblo’s Weisbrod Aircraft Museum. Campaign officials said they didn’t think it was appropriate.
