Police look for domestic violence suspect

Colorado Springs police are looking for a man they say tried to strangle his girlfriend.

25-year-old Ian Gilmer is wanted by police for criminal attempted second degree murder, 2nd degree assault and child abuse.

Police say that Gilmer tried to strangle his girlfriend on September 7th in the 1200 block of West Colorado Avenue. The victim was transported to the hospital where she was treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Gilmer was not at the home when police arrived on scene and could not be found. He’s described as a white man, 6’1″ with a medium build. He has brown hair and was last seen wearing a black shirt and green and tan camouflage pants. He is currently homeless, police said.

The photo accompanying this article was taken four months ago and reports indicate that he is much thinner at this time.
