Wrong-way driver causes crash on I-25 near Woodmen Road

A driver going the wrong way caused a crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 near Woodmen Road in Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon.

The driver, 43-year old Shannon Swanson was arrested, but police did not specify on what charges.

Swanson was going north in the southbound lanes and collided with a trailer being pulled by a southbound vehicle just south of Woodmen Road, police said.

The vehicle Swanson was driving, a Pontiac Vibe entered I-25 someplace south if Uintah a caused at least four accidents between Uintah and the final crash just south of Woodmen Road, according to Colorado Springs Police.

One of the accidents involved a Walsenburg police car driven by the Walsenburg police chief.
