New manufacturing jobs coming to Pueblo

Our news partners at the Pueblo Chieftain report that 55 new manufacturing jobs will be coming to Pueblo this month.

One of the leading tire chain manufacturers worldwide will open its first North American manufacturing center in Pueblo.

According to a press release issued by Pueblo Economic Development Corp, pewag will be introduced in conjunction with a jobs announcement at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Pueblo Convention Center.

At full operation, the company will provide 55 new jobs to the Pueblo market.

pewag (the company’s name is all lower case) is an Austrian company. The company boasts its manufacturing tradition that dates back to 1479 – more than 500 years.

A nationwide search was held to determine the location of its first chain production plant in North America.

Pueblo was selected and will be home to the plant, which will encompass 55,000 square feet.

Mike Uhrenbacher, pewag USA president, said there were many reasons for the selection of Pueblo: “Access to the supply chain, skilled and qualified workforce, training capabilities with Pueblo Community College, tireless support from Pueblo Economic Development Corporation and economic incentives from the city of Pueblo.”

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled Sept. 28 at pewag’s new property in the Minnequa Industrial Park on the South Side.
