Springs police investigate 2 overnight robberies

Colorado Springs police are investigating two robberies that happened overnight.

The first one happened at around 11:40 p.m. Friday at the Diamond Shamrock store in the 48-hundred block of Galley Road.

Officers said the robber pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the clerk.

The suspect left the store with cash and officers said they searched the area, but could not find him.

The robber is described as a white man in his 30s. He’s about 5’8” tall with a slim build. He had blonde hair with a full beard. Police said he was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The second robbery happened at around 1:12 a.m. Saturday at the Loaf N’ Jug store in the 4700 block of Drennan Road.

Officers said the robber stole cash from the register and stole a customer’s cell phone.

The robber was described as a black man in his early 20s. He was about 5’4” to 5’6” tall. He was wearing a blue bandana that covered his face and a black hooded sweatshirt.
