Helen Hunt Falls welcomes new visitors center
The new Helen Hunt Falls Visitors Center was officially opened to the public Saturday.
A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the opening of the 1,300 square feet building. It has the character of the original cabin (the Cub) but more space and amenities for visitors.
Mayor Steve Bach could not be at the dedication but shared his excitement in a letter read by Karen Palus, Director of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services for the city.
“The remarkable center will be enjoyed for generations to come by our children, our grandchildren and hundreds of thousands of visitors to our community,” said Palus.
The friends of Cheyenne Caon worked for seven years to open the center. The Mayors office gave the group the “Spirit of the Springs” award.
The visitors center is located at 3440 N. Cheyenne Caon Road. It is the place to go for maps and books on Cheyenne Caon or you can schedule a hike with a tour guide.
It is open seasonally, beginning on Memorial Day weekend generally and closing on Labor Day weekend.
