Hostage OK, suspects held after Denver standoff

Police say a hostage has been released unharmed and two suspects are in custody after a 6-hour armed standoff with officers at a Denver RadioShack store.

Police Chief Robert White says one or both suspects fired a weapon during the standoff Friday but no one was injured.

Initial reports said two people were injured when a gunman opened fire at the store, but that later proved to be not true.

According to our sister station in Denver, KMGH, the hostage was a 28-year-old RadioShack employee named Christopher Nimerfroh. A person at the scene tells 7NEWS that one of the gunmen was 19-year-old Taveuan Williams.

Williams had allegedly been posting on social media during the incident, asking his friends to call him and say their last good byes.

Police haven’t officially released the names of the hostage or the suspects.
