State Patrol makes 104 arrests over long weekend
Colorado State Patrol made 104 arrests during the holiday weekend and issued numerous other citations for traffic violations.
From the afternoon of August 31 until the early morning of September 4, State Patrol Troopers maintained high-visibility saturation patrols and participated in DUI checkpoints to find and stop drunk drivers.
During the holiday weekend time frame, Troopers made 104 total arrests. 73 of those arrested were 73 DUI or DUID drivers. Troopers also issued 136 seat belt citations.
Despite state-wide advertising of the increased police presence, two fatalities occurred in two separate crashes over the long weekend, according to State Patrol. Alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in one crash; lack of use of a seat belt is suspected in the other.
Even with the end to this year’s 100 Days of Heat campaign the Colorado State Patrol would like to remind all drivers in Colorado to drive sober, use a seat belt and always drive safely and courteously.
