Victim of Chief Motel slaying ID’d
Police have identified the victim of the Chief Motel homicide as 59-year-old Michael Ramirez.
Ramirez was found dead at the motel on S. Nevada Ave around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
Detectives established probable cause for the arrest of 49-year-old Santos Joseph Torres and arrested him Wednesday afternoon. Torres is being charged with first degree murder.
A second suspect, 48-year-old Jeannette Silvia, was also taken into custody and charged with first degree murder.
Officers say there were obvious signs of trauma on Ramirez’ body. A coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
This death is the City’s 17th homicide so far in 2012. There were 19 homicides at this time last year.
