Trinidad Councilman ousted in recall election

TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) — Voters in southern Colorado have ousted Trinidad City Councilman Alfredo Pando in a recall election.

The Trinidad Chronicle-News (http://bit.ly/qDijUt) reports the vote was 1,210 to 587 Tuesday to recall Pando. Anthony Mattie received 1,113 votes to be selected to finish Pando’s term, which ends in November.

Pando declined to comment on the outcome of the election.

Efforts by the Trinidad Recall Action Committee and its organizer, Steve Bolton, to recall Pando intensified after the dismissal of former City Manager Ed Gil de Rubio. Pando was among those voting to fire him.

Bolton says the group also hopes to recall Mayor John Rino.
