Police investigate sexual assault of young girl

Colorado Springs police are investigating the sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl.

Police say it happened Thursday morning around 11:30 in the 700 block of E. Rio Grande Street.

Investigators say they received information that 52-year-old Robert Koenig sexually assaulted the girl within view of two Department of Human Services Caseworkers.

Detectives from the Crimes Against Children Unit were assigned to investigate.

Police arrested Koenig, who is facing a charge of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
