Woman who died in deadly Highway 50 crash identified

Colorado State Patrol tells us 41-year-old Heather Dunn of Cotapaxi was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 about 3 miles west of Howard on Thursday.

Dunn was driving a Subaru that collided with an SUV around 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The The SUV driver was identified by Colorado State Patrol as 60-year-old William Shaffer of North Liberty Iowa was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Troopers say Shaffer was driving west in the eastbound lane and collided head on with Dunn’s Subaru. Troopers say drugs are suspected as a contributing factor in this crash

Hwy 50 was closed in the area for several hours Thursday afternoon.
