Suspicious death along Springs trail ruled homicide

Colorado Springs Police have identified the body found along a trail on Wednesday and ruled his death a homicide.

Police say that the body of John Knudsen was found in an open space along Santa Fe Trail, just east of the Walmart on S 8th Street. The Coroner completed an autopsy on Thursday and ruled his death a homicide by stabbing. Knudsen was in his mid-50s and lived in Colorado Springs.

There is no suspect information at this time. Police ask that if anyone observed something suspicious, they call police at 719-444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP (7867).

Knudsen’s death is the 15th homicide this year in Colorado Springs.
