Messy lawn law passes in New York town

Being lazy with your lawn care could now land you in jail in one New York town.

Dozens testified before the mayor and village board, seeking relief from foreclosed homes, dead trees, vermin and swimming pools have filled with water.

The vote was unanimous.

If your lawns aren’t mowed, if dumpsters are full, gutters are broken, banks or homeowners face a $250 to $1,000 for the first offense.

$2,500 plus 10 days in jail for the second and $10,000 and 15 days in jail for the third.
