E-470 Introduces New Customer-Friendly Billing Process and Statement Design

E-470 is launching a new License Plate Toll (LPT) billing process and statement redesign in August. E-470 officials said the new billing process is simple, more informative, gives the customer ample time to pay, and lessens fees for non-payment.

Thirty days following a customer’s use of E-470, a billing statement is generated for tolls accrued during that time period. If the statement is not paid in full, a second statement is sent with a one-time five-dollar late fee added. If payment is not received, the statement is re-issued with no additional fees.

If tolls remain unpaid for more than 90 days, the account will be sent to a collections law firm. At this time, a one-time collection fee is added to the account. The account remains in collections for approximately four months, with the customer continuing to receive monthly statements reflecting past-due charges and any new tolls accrued. If the account remains unpaid, the customer is then subject to civil penalties, adjudication fees, and non-renewal of vehicle registration through the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles.

The billing statement has also been updated with a new look and feel. One new feature includes an account status area that alerts customers on impacts to their account if they do not pay on time. There are also larger fonts used for the due date and amount due to help the customer identify what is owed and when the payment is due.

In addition, the statement informs customers what they would save by opening an EXpressToll account. A customer may open an EXpressToll account and instantly save 20 percent in tolls on E-470, have fees reduced, and enjoy EXpressToll Rewards benefits.

E-470’s Deputy Executive Director and Director of Operations, Dave Kristick, said, “The new billing process and LPT statement were designed to be fair and convenient for customers, which is a top priority for
E-470.”
