A man is in critical condition after overnight shooting

Colorado Springs Police investigate an early morning shooting that left one man in critical condition.

It happened in the area of Carmel Drive and Del Mar Drive.

Police tell us they got a call that a man had been shot in the 1900 block of Del Mar Drive around 2:30 Monday morning.

Police say the victim, who is in his early 20s, was unconscious when they got to him. They say he’s in critical but stable condition after being shot multiple times.

Neighbors said they first heard arguing outside and then gunshots.

“When I heard the gunshots I really couldn’t believe they were gunshots,” said Alex Enriquez, a neighbor. “I thought they were some fireworks, kids doing it. But then when the cops showed up, I realized something was wrong.”

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6′ tall with a thin build. He reportedly left the area in a dark-colored Sedan.
