Saturated fat consumption could be influenced by parenthood

(CNN) – A new study suggests that having a child may increase the amount of saturated fat an individual consumes.

The study concluded that parents eat more saturated fat than people without kids.

Researchers blamed the increase on factors like picking up a quick snack of fries or chicken fingers with the kids after school.

High levels of saturated fats can lead to obesity, heart attacks and high cholesterol.

The study followed more than 20,000 adults for 20 years.
