Men rescued from Maroon Bells

Rescuers pulled two men from a traverse between the Maroon Bells southwest of Aspen on Thursday.

At 1:40 p.m. a man called authorities, saying that his 40-year-old friend was suffering from a shortness of breath and other medical issues which prevented their decent.

The summits of Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak are located approximately 10 miles south of the City of Aspen at 14,156 feet and 14,014 feet respectively.

The two hikers made it out of the wilderness shortly before 6 p.m. last night.

The hiker was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital.
