Teen injured when car hits his moped

A teenager was badly injured Wednesday night when the moped he was driving was hit by a car near the Costco on Barnes Road.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. near the entrance of the Costco, one block east of Powers, police said.

Police said the investigation revealed that a driver of a car traveling westbound on Barnes attempted to make a left turn into the shopping center access road and hit a moped that was being driven by a 17 year old boy.

That boy suffered severe head injuries, police said.

Charges are pending in this crash.
