Event with ducks on despite drought

Aspen’s Ducky Derby is back on track after water providers agreed to help keep the event afloat.

Fundraisers plan to send thousands of rubber ducks down the Roaring Fork River on Saturday, despite a severe drought that limits river flows.

Diversions from the headwaters of the Roaring Fork by the Twin Lakes Reservoir and Canal Co. and other water providers agreed to hold off on water demands to let the fundraiser go on. People rent the ducks to compete for a $10,000 prize and donate to charity.

According to the Aspen Times, the Aspen Rotary Club uses the money for charitable work locally and internationally.
