Boy dies after car hits cow on Colorado 94

State troopers say a 10-year-old boy has died after the car he was riding in crashed into a cow on the road in eastern El Paso County.

Troopers say Samuel Skaggs and his father, Michael, were heading west on Colorado 94 around 9:30 p.m. Monday when their sedan struck a black cow and went off the road. Another vehicle also struck the cow a short time later.

Troopers say Samuel sustained head injuries and died Tuesday. His father has broken arms.

The State Patrol says Michael Skaggs was unable to see the dark animal in the road.
