The first standoff began in the 2700 block of Hangtree Court. Police tell us Dustin Romero, who is in his late 30s, violated a restraining order by going to his estranged wife’s home near I-25 and Fillmore. The bomb squad responded as a precaution to these claims.

Police threw a cell phone into the basement so that Romero could call his family. Family members were able to convince Romero to come out of the home, according to police. He was taken into custody and charged with 1st degree criminal trespass, violation of a protection order, and for a warrant on a previous domestic violence incident.
