United Way’s plan to help Waldo Canyon fire victims

A big announcement in how Pikes Peak United Way plans to help the victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire.

The agency held a press conference Friday morning to get the word out that there is a strong collaboration between four organizations.

More than a million dollars will be distributed through those organizations to help individuals and some rebuilding efforts in impacted areas.

The Pikes Peak United Way plans to fund non profits who will then, in turn, help individuals.

Colorado Springs Together will give money towards the activities required to help restore lives and neighborhoods affected by the fire.

The Pikes Peak Community Foundation The Waldo Canyon Firefighters fund will help replenish supplies depleted by fire agencies that helped fight the fire, search and rescue, and animal shelters.

Catholic Charities will help individuals and families with help from 30 organizations.
Right now, Catholic Charities is developing a case management structure to help individuals and families in need..

If you need immediate needs with things like rent, utilities and lost income, you can call United Way at 211.
