Charges Dropped Against Manitou Springs Prom Chaperones

It is a major twist in the case of two chaperones accused of harassing students at prom for the way they were dancing. The charges against mothers Jennifer Farmer and Hannah Rockey have been dropped.

It comes with a price, though, the two women must apologize to the student involved, and will donate an undetermined amount of money to the Manitou Springs High School Prom Fund.

Farmer and Rockey were chaperones at the April 22 prom that was held at the Manitou Springs City Hall. Students claim that the women called them names like “slut” for the manner in which they were dancing and then sprayed Lysol on them.

One student left the prom and walked over to the Manitou Springs Police Department to press charges.

In a previous statement Farmer had said she might make a comment on the situation after the case was over, but a family member told KRDO NewsChannel13 Farmer would not speak at this time.

In response to the incident, Manitou Springs School District 14 officials said they will now train parents on proper protocol before they chaperone school events.
