Robert “Bob” Jackson, a decades-long Pueblo community leader, has died according to our news partners at the Pueblo Chieftain.

A Pueblo native, Jackson loved his home town and was the city’s ardent advocate as a businessman, state legislator and philanthropist.

In 1943, he joined his father, R.L. Jackson, in partnership of the local Chevrolet dealership and later went partnered with Tony Fortino.

He spent three terms in the Colorado State House of Representatives, serving form 1967 to 1972.

His generosity also is well documented. He served on a number of community boards, including United Way of Pueblo County, the Colorado State Fair and Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center. In 1978, Jackson donated $250,000 in property and cash to the YMCA to help improve and operate the Y’s Camp Crockett mountain camp between Rye and Beulah. It later was named Camp Jackson.
