Canon City man arrested for allegedly assaulting minor

A 39-year-old Canon City man has been arrested for allegedly hitting a minor on the head with a flashlight.

Daniel McDaniel and several juveniles were partying in Phantom Canyon in Fremont County on June 2nd. McDaniel allegedly struck a 17-year-old male on the head with a metal flashlight during an altercation.

After the assault, friends transported the juvenile to Parkview Hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown. McDaniel had also reportedly provided alcohol to some of the juveniles at the party.

McDaniel was arrested on Tuesday after detectives from the Combined Investigations Response Team obtained an arrest warrant. McDaniel was charged with First Degree Assault and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. He is being held in the Fremont County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
