Authorites search for Park County hit-and-run suspect

Colorado State Patrol is responding to a one-vehicle accident that was allegedly caused by someone driving a van.

The accident happened Wednesday afternoon on Hwy 24 near Wilkerson Pass. The driver of the van that allegedly caused the car to crash fled the scene.

Troopers are looking for a “smaller van” that has “Budget Rent-A-Car” written on it. It was last seen headed east on Hwy 24.

Two medical helicopters transported people injured in the crash to the hospital. The extent of injuries and the number of people involved is unknown.

Hwy 24 is not closed but brief closures may occur due to movement of emergency vehicles.
