Police: Car hits drunk pedestrian in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs police said a car hit a pedestrian Friday night near the intersection of North Murray Blvd. and East Bijou St.

Police said it happened just before 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The driver, Timothy Gilliam, 24, was headed southbound on Murray Blvd. and did not see the pedestrian, Raymond Johnson, 25. Gilliam hit Johnson with the front of his car, police said.

Johnson was transported to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Police said he is expected to survive.

According to police, Johnson had been drinking. Gilliam, the driver, had not been drinking.

Johnson was cited for pedestrian failing to yield because he crossed the street mid-block. Gilliam was cited for licenses for drivers required.
