Free Golf For Waldo Canyon Firefighters

Gleneagle Golf Club will be offering free golf to Waldo Canyon firefighters on Monday, July 23. La Zingara Italian Restaurant and El Padrino Mexicano Restaurant will also be providing food to the firefighters that day.

“We wanted to thank the people who bravely fought the aggressive fire and prevented many more homes from being burned,” said Rick Evelo, general manager of Gleneagle Golf Club.

“Designating a day for them to enjoy golf and eat for free is the least we can do.”
The free golf includes green fees and golf cart and is available to those who were involved in fighting the fire which began in Waldo Canyon on June 23. To reserve a tee time, fire fighters need to call the club’s pro shop at (719) 488-0900 ext. 1. All of the club’s tee times on July 23 will be available for the firefighters.

La Zingara and El Padrino will be serving food at the club from 11 am to 3 pm. The
restaurants with the support of several of their vendors will be serving many of their menu favorites free to the firefighters.

The club is also working with other organizations for support and donations and is also identifying volunteers to work during the event. Interested parties should call the club’s event coordinator, Erika Wong, at (719) 488-0900, ext 4 to volunteer or otherwise support the event.

“We have been very impressed how our city has come together during this tragedy and I’m glad Gleneagle and our community can help thank those who responded to the fire,” said Wong.
