Fiery crash shuts down Hwy 24

A man faces charges after a single vehicle crash.

Colorado Springs police say Mark Untiedt was speeding on the Highway 24 bypass at I-25 at 10:30 Sunday morning when he lost control, hitting the guardrail. His vehicle caught on fire and a witness helped get him out. Firefighters put the flames out, but police had to shut down eastbound Highway 24 for nearly an hour.

The 55-year-old was the only one inside the red sedan. He wa staken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.
