Authorities investigate inactive meth lab

Hazmat crews are investigating an inactive meth lab in the 3100 block of Prospect St.

Colorado Springs Police tells us the owner of a rental home called police because former tenants were trespassing. When police arrived, they found people dismantling a stolen car in the backyard. Items were found that are consistent with the presence of a meth lab.

Police called hazmat crews and VNI to investigate. Police say that it is believed it is an “inactive” meth lab with residual contamination. Therefore, no evacuations were ordered.

Police tell us that they responded to the same address for a meth-lab related reason lat year, but they do not know if it involves the same people.
