Authorities ask for tips regarding Douglas County arrest

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Castle Rock Police Department are requesting the public’s assistance in reference to a shots fired incident that occurred on Independence Day.

On July 4th at about 11:30 p.m., CRPD and DCSO responded to a suspicious circumstance involving a man with a gun in a bush at Appleton Way and South Ridge Road.

Numerous officers were shot at and after a lengthy search, 41-year-old Lonnie James Pebley was taken into custody.

DCSO is asking that anyone who may have been in the area (Willow Creek Road, north east to Castlewood Ranch Subdivision, south of Founders on July 5 from 12 a.m. to 7 a.m.) who has additional information about the incident, or any evidence that may be related to this case, to contact DCSO immediately (this could include seeing someone walking in the area or an item that may have been left behind in the area).

DCSO is also requesting that anyone who has additional information specifically about Lonnie James Pebley to come forward.

Lonnie James Pebley remains in custody on a $5 million bond.
