Family night planned for Waldo Canyon Fire victims

A night of fun is planned for the victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire.

The city of Colorado Springs, Pikes and San Isabel National Forests department and iT’Z Family Food & Fun have organized a family night for those whose house was destroyed by the wildfire. It will occur Monday, July 9.

The event will be an evening of free food and fun beginning at 6 p.m. iT’Z Family Food & Fun is located at 3035 New Center Point, in the First & Main Shopping Center off Powers Boulevard.

Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach and his wife, members of the Denver Broncos Football Team, Miles the Denver Broncos mascot, Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and other local mascots are scheduled to be there as well. The Colorado Springs Fire Department and Colorado Springs Police Department are also planning on having a Fire Truck and Police Car display in the parking lot.

A spokesman for the effort said organizers tried to get tickets to all those homeowners with lost property but may not have been 100% successful. He said if you are a victim and didn’t receive an invite feel free to come by and show an ID in order to get inside.
