Major power outage in Fountain overnight

The power is back on in Fountain after a major outage early Friday morning.

Fountain Utilities says the outage affected 2,401 customers for about two hours. The affected area included people and businesses from Charter Oak Ranch Road, north to Main Street in Security, and from I-25 east to Grinnell Street.

Crews got the power back on at around 4:30 Friday morning.

Fountain Utilities says the outage was due to an underground primary cable that faulted near the West Fountain Substation.
