A Castle Rock man suspected of shooting at police is arrested

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a man who shot at police late Wednesday night is now in custody.

Castle Rock Police were called to Appleton Way and South Ridge Road in Castle Rock shortly before 11:30 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun. Police say that man was Lonnie James Pebley.

Officers say they were shot at, patrol cars were hit and disabled and officers were forced to return fire.

That’s when officers called for help from the Douglas Regional SWAT Team. The Greenwood Village and Denver Police Departments also sent officers to help.

Two Everbridge Emergency Mass Notifications were sent to more than 2,000 phone numbers telling people to stay inside their homes because of an armed suspect in the area.

Investigators finally located Pebley around 6:40 Thursday morning and took him into custody. No one was hurt.
