Deadly accident in El Paso County

One man is dead after a crash on Roller Coaster Road in Black Forest in El Paso County.

State Troopers said Ralph Sydney Hartman,65, was traveling westbound when he drove off the right side of the road and continued on the grassy shoulder.

Troopers said his car struck a mile marker, multiple fence posts and then a large tree head-on.

After hitting the tree, troopers said his car caught fire, and became engulfed in flames.

Mr. Hartman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said speeding is a contributing factor and the crash is still under investigation.
