“Zero-tolerance policy in Springs

The Colorado Springs Police Dept. has adopted a “zero-tolerance policy when it comes to the possession and/or use of fireworks.

Officers say that means if they respond to a call and find any individual in possession of or using fireworks within the city limits, they will be issued a summons to appear in court.

This effort is in conjunction with the open fire ban in place within the state.

Police say that you’re reminded that it is a violation of city ordinance to possess and/or use fireworks.

A conviction may carry a fine of up to $500 and/or 90 days in jail.

If property damage or injury occurs as a result of such a violation you may be charged with arson.
